Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, finance, technology, retail, education, and tourism, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah, and Sarawak. Its island destinations include Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, and parts of Sabah, each offering beaches, nature, water activities, and a relaxed lifestyle. Malaysian culture is diverse, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous traditions, with English commonly used in workplaces. Living costs vary: Kuala Lumpur is generally more expensive, while smaller resort areas may offer lower costs but fewer services. International employees usually need an employment pass sponsored by their employer; working before approval is not permitted. Employers commonly guide applicants through documentation and immigration procedures. Relocating staff should confirm accommodation, healthcare, transport, taxation, insurance, and contract benefits before accepting an offer. Tropical weather, occasional monsoon conditions, and local customs should also be considered.
