Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers substantial opportunities in hotels, restaurants, retail, finance, technology, logistics and professional services. The culture blends Cantonese traditions with international influences, and Cantonese, English and Mandarin are widely used in workplaces and daily life. Residents enjoy excellent public transport, diverse dining, shopping, hiking trails, beaches and a fast-paced urban lifestyle. Overseas employees normally need an employment visa sponsored by their employer; approval depends on a confirmed job, suitable qualifications and proof that the role cannot readily be filled locally. Employers often assist with visa documentation, although housing and relocation costs can be significant. Salaries may be attractive, but rent is among the highest globally, especially near major business districts. Hong Kong is well connected internationally and is suitable for people comfortable with compact living, busy schedules and a multicultural environment.
