Destination Guide

Malaysia is not one island but a country with major island destinations such as Langkawi, Penang, and parts of Borneo. Resort areas offer opportunities in food and beverage, housekeeping, front office, culinary operations, spa services, engineering, and guest activities, while Kuala Lumpur and other cities provide broader hotel and business careers. Malaysian culture is multicultural, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian, and Indigenous traditions, with diverse food, festivals, and languages. Island life is generally relaxed and outdoor-oriented, with beaches, rainforests, water sports, and warm tropical weather, although costs and transport can vary. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored employment pass or relevant work permit before starting employment; requirements depend on nationality, salary, sector, and location. Candidates should confirm sponsorship, accommodation, medical checks, contract terms, and relocation costs directly with Shangri-La.
