Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hotels, tourism, food and beverage, finance, technology, healthcare and logistics. Hospitality roles are concentrated around Orchard Road, Marina Bay, Sentosa and Changi, with public transport making commuting straightforward. The culture is multicultural, orderly and strongly influenced by Chinese, Malay, Indian and international communities. Lifestyle highlights include excellent hawker food, shopping, museums, parks and efficient transport, although rent and daily expenses can be high. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and occupation; the employer submits the application to Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower. Candidates should secure a written offer, check pass eligibility and budget for accommodation, healthcare and deposits before relocating. English is widely used in workplaces and daily life.
