Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, aviation, finance and technology. Hospitality jobs are concentrated around Orchard Road, Marina Bay, Sentosa, the airport and major business districts. The culture is multicultural, orderly and generally English-friendly, with Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences reflected in food, festivals and daily life. Public transport is excellent, while housing and dining costs can be high; shared accommodation is a common option for newcomers. The climate is hot, humid and tropical throughout the year, with frequent rain. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and occupation. Candidates should secure a formal offer before relocating, confirm accommodation and benefits, and check current requirements with Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower.
