Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, modern island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, finance, technology and healthcare. The culture is highly multicultural, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Residents enjoy efficient public transport, safe neighbourhoods, diverse restaurants, shopping, parks and a busy urban lifestyle, although housing and daily expenses can be high. Foreign employees generally need employer-sponsored permission to work, commonly an Employment Pass or S Pass depending on qualifications, salary and eligibility; approval is handled through Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower. Before relocating, candidates should confirm the employment contract, accommodation, medical coverage, working hours and visa sponsorship. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain, so suitable clothing and budgeting are important.
