Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, events, tourism and retail, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and other coastal destinations. Langkawi is a relaxed resort island with beaches, island-hopping and a slower lifestyle, while Penang combines heritage culture, excellent food and a lively urban community. Sabah and Sarawak provide nature-focused tourism and strong demand for hospitality staff. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous influences; English is widely used in tourism workplaces. Living costs are moderate, though resort islands can be more expensive and housing may be limited. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored employment pass, and must not begin work before approval. Employers usually handle much of the application process. Bring verified qualifications, medical documents and passport copies, and confirm accommodation, transport, insurance and contract terms before relocating.
