Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a highly connected international city with strong opportunities in hospitality, security, finance, retail, aviation, technology and professional services. Its culture blends Cantonese traditions with global influences, and Cantonese is valuable for customer-facing roles; English is widely used in business and hotels, while Mandarin is also helpful. Lifestyle options range from dense urban districts and excellent dining to beaches, hiking trails and outlying islands. Public transport is efficient, though accommodation can be expensive, especially near Central, Admiralty and major hotel areas. Foreign nationals normally need an approved employment visa before starting work, with the employer sponsoring the application and demonstrating a genuine position. Applicants should confirm salary, accommodation, medical coverage, working hours and visa eligibility directly with the employer. Hong Kong uses the Hong Kong dollar and has a subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and milder winters.
