Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a highly connected international city made up of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, with excellent public transport, major airports and a busy hospitality sector. Hotels, restaurants, cruise services, events, retail and tourism companies offer opportunities for candidates with language skills and customer-service experience. The culture blends Cantonese traditions with international influences; politeness, efficiency, punctuality and respect for hierarchy are valued at work. Lifestyle options range from dense urban neighbourhoods and diverse dining to beaches, hiking trails and nearby islands. Rental housing can be expensive, so many newcomers share accommodation or live farther from central districts. Overseas employees usually need an employer-sponsored Hong Kong employment visa, commonly assessed under the General Employment Policy, with proof of qualifications, relevant experience and a genuine job offer. Dependants may require separate arrangements.
