Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, retail, aviation, construction, healthcare and business services. Dubai and Abu Dhabi offer the largest concentration of international hotels and resort jobs, while Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah provide growing leisure opportunities. The culture combines Emirati traditions with a highly international population; modest dress and respect for local customs are important. Lifestyle is modern and convenient, with excellent transport, shopping, beaches and dining, although summer heat is intense. Employers normally sponsor a work permit and residence visa, arrange medical testing and often provide health insurance. Benefits may include accommodation, transport, meals and annual airfare, depending on the contract. Candidates should verify salary, housing, probation, leave and visa terms before relocating. Major airports make regional and international travel straightforward.
