Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, multicultural city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, engineering, facilities management, finance, technology, healthcare and logistics. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay and Tamil are also official languages. The lifestyle is convenient and safe, with efficient public transport, excellent healthcare, diverse food, shopping and lively cultural districts. Living costs, especially rent, are relatively high, so accommodation and transport should be considered carefully when evaluating an offer. Foreign employees normally need employer-sponsored permission to work, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and occupation; the employer usually submits the application to Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower. Candidates should verify eligibility and current rules before relocating. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain. New arrivals should arrange valid travel documents, suitable accommodation, medical coverage and a local bank account.
