Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, food and beverage, tourism, finance, technology and healthcare. Its multicultural society blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in its festivals, languages and excellent food culture. Lifestyle is convenient and highly urbanised, with reliable public transport, modern shopping areas, green parks and a safe environment. Housing can be expensive, especially near central districts, so many workers choose shared accommodation or locations close to MRT lines. Foreign employees usually require an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and role. Employers normally manage the application process. New arrivals should budget for rent, transport, medical insurance and daily expenses, and confirm accommodation, meals, service charge and work-pass details before relocating.
