Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, finance, technology and healthcare. Hotel employees work with international guests and colleagues, making English essential; Mandarin or other languages can be useful. The culture is multicultural, orderly and fast-paced, with excellent public transport, reliable services and high personal safety. Accommodation and daily expenses can be expensive, especially rent, although salaries and employer benefits may help. Singapore has a tropical climate, modern shopping and entertainment areas, diverse food, parks and easy access to nearby Southeast Asian destinations. Foreign nationals generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and sector rules. Applicants should secure a formal job offer before relocating and confirm accommodation, medical coverage and pass eligibility with the employer.
