Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied opportunities in hospitality, finance, shared services, technology, manufacturing, education, and tourism. Kuala Lumpur is the main business hub, while Penang combines strong employment prospects with island living, and Langkawi and Sabah offer resort-based careers. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous influences reflected in food, festivals, language, and daily life. Living costs are moderate compared with many international cities, although central Kuala Lumpur and popular resort areas can be more expensive. Public transport is strongest in major cities; island locations often require taxis or private transport. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with approval and eligibility depending on salary, qualifications, and role. Secure the job offer and pass before relocating, arrange accommodation, obtain suitable health insurance, and check current immigration requirements. Malaysia’s tropical climate is warm and humid year-round.
