Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, multicultural island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, finance, technology, healthcare and logistics. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay and Tamil are also official languages. Life is safe, efficient and convenient, with excellent public transport, modern healthcare, diverse food, shopping and vibrant cultural districts. Accommodation and daily expenses can be high, especially near the city centre, so budgeting is important. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications, experience and the relevant pass category, with the Employment Pass and S Pass commonly used for professional and skilled roles. Secure a signed offer before relocating, check pass approval, arrange temporary accommodation and understand healthcare, tax and employment conditions. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain.
