Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact, international city with excellent opportunities in hotels, tourism, restaurants, finance, retail, technology, and professional services. Its culture combines Cantonese traditions, British influences, and global business life. Residents enjoy efficient public transport, diverse food, shopping, hiking, beaches, and a lively urban lifestyle, although housing can be expensive and space is limited. For foreign workers, employment normally requires a confirmed job offer and an employment visa under the General Employment Policy; the employer typically sponsors the application and must show that the role is genuine and suitably paid. Applicants should prepare passports, qualifications, employment records, and other requested documents. Relocation costs, deposits, healthcare arrangements, and accommodation should be planned carefully. Cantonese is valuable for customer-facing hospitality roles, while English is widely used in international hotels.
