Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hospitality, finance, tourism, banking, retail, technology and professional services. Its international business environment and concentration of luxury hotels make it attractive for experienced hotel finance professionals. The culture blends Chinese traditions with global influences; Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in business and hospitality. Life is energetic and convenient, with excellent public transport, diverse dining, shopping, hiking trails and vibrant entertainment, although housing and daily expenses can be high. Hong Kong has a subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and milder winters. Most overseas professionals need an employment visa sponsored by their employer, normally under the General Employment Policy, and must demonstrate suitable qualifications and experience. Relocating employees should arrange accommodation, medical coverage, banking and tax registration. New arrivals often choose districts such as Hong Kong Island, Kowloon or the New Territories based on commute and budget.
