Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, finance, technology, retail, logistics and digital marketing. The city is energetic, international and highly connected, with Cantonese, English and Mandarin widely used in business. Its culture combines traditional festivals, temples and local markets with modern shopping, dining and arts scenes. Lifestyle options range from dense urban neighbourhoods and late-night restaurants to beaches, hiking trails and outlying islands. Housing is expensive, although public transport is excellent and many professionals live outside the central districts. Foreign employees generally need an employment visa sponsored by a Hong Kong company; approval depends on qualifications, relevant experience, a confirmed offer and proof that the role cannot readily be filled locally. Dependants may usually apply for dependant visas. New arrivals should budget for rent, deposits, healthcare, insurance and relocation costs, and confirm tax, visa and housing arrangements before moving.
