Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact international city made up of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, connected by efficient MTR trains, buses and ferries. Hospitality offers frequent opportunities in hotels, restaurants, cafés, clubs and events, especially for candidates with English, Cantonese or Mandarin skills. Work culture is fast-paced, service-oriented and generally hierarchical, with strong emphasis on punctuality, presentation and teamwork. Lifestyle options range from dense urban districts and shopping areas to beaches, hiking trails and outlying islands. Overseas employees normally need an employer-sponsored employment visa before starting work; the company must demonstrate a genuine position and suitable terms. Applicants should budget for deposits, relatively high rents, transport and healthcare, and arrange accommodation before arrival. Hong Kong has excellent public transport, but living space can be limited and expensive.
