Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact, energetic destination combining a highly developed business centre with beaches, hiking trails, islands, and traditional neighbourhoods. Job opportunities are strongest in hospitality, finance, retail, technology, aviation, healthcare, and education. The culture is international but rooted in Cantonese traditions, with Cantonese and English widely used and Mandarin increasingly common. Lifestyle options range from excellent restaurants and nightlife to peaceful country parks and outlying islands. Rents can be high, especially on Hong Kong Island and in Kowloon, so many workers share accommodation or live in the New Territories, supported by an efficient public transport system. Foreign professionals generally need an employer-sponsored employment visa, commonly through the General Employment Policy, with proof of qualifications, relevant experience, a confirmed job, and suitable salary. Dependants may usually apply for dependant visas. Arrange accommodation, banking, insurance, and document authentication before relocation.
