Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a dense, international city with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, retail, finance, technology, and professional services. Its culture blends Cantonese traditions with global influences, and local life includes excellent dining, festivals, hiking, beaches, and vibrant neighborhoods. Public transport is efficient, with the MTR, buses, ferries, and trams making commuting relatively easy. Housing can be expensive, especially near central districts, so many employees share apartments or live farther from work. Overseas professionals generally need an employment visa sponsored by their employer, while eligible nationals may use specific talent or working-holiday schemes. Employers typically assist with visa paperwork, but requirements should be confirmed with Hong Kong Immigration. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, health coverage, banking, and an Octopus travel card before starting work.
