Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, including Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with strong opportunities in luxury hotels, restaurants, resorts, events and tourism. English is widely used in the workplace, while Arabic is the official language. The culture blends Emirati traditions, Islamic values and a highly international population; respectful dress and behaviour are important, especially during Ramadan. Lifestyle options range from beaches, shopping and desert activities to major cultural and sporting events. Summers are extremely hot, while winters are warm and popular with visitors. Most foreign employees need employer-sponsored residence and work visas; the employer normally arranges medical checks, Emirates ID processing and work authorization. Candidates should confirm housing, transport, health insurance, flights, gratuity and leave terms before relocating. Dubai and Abu Dhabi offer excellent services but can be expensive, particularly for accommodation.
