Destination Guide

Indonesia offers varied opportunities in luxury hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, wellness and marine activities, particularly in Bali, Jakarta, Batam, Lombok and the main resort islands. Bali is the most established destination for international hospitality workers, with a relaxed lifestyle, strong cultural traditions, temples, beaches and a large expatriate community. Lombok and other islands offer a quieter pace and growing resort employment, while Jakarta provides more corporate and urban opportunities. Local culture values respect, modesty, community and religious observance, so workplace adaptation and cultural sensitivity are important. Foreign employees generally need employer sponsorship and the correct work and residence permits; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Employers commonly guide the process, but requirements and costs should be confirmed before relocation. Housing, transport, healthcare access and island connectivity vary significantly by location.
