Destination Guide

Indonesia offers opportunities in hotel sales, tourism, events, restaurants, travel companies and multinational businesses, especially in Jakarta on Java, Bali, Batam and major resort destinations. Jakarta is a busy metropolitan centre with extensive corporate activity, international schools, shopping and dining, but it has heavy traffic and a fast-paced lifestyle. Bali provides a more relaxed island setting and strong tourism employment, while Java offers broad professional and industrial opportunities. Indonesian culture emphasizes hospitality, family, respect and religious diversity; learning basic Bahasa Indonesia is highly useful. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work permit and stay visa before starting work. Relocation packages may include accommodation, flights, insurance or tax support, depending on the employer. New arrivals should budget for housing, transport, healthcare and document processing, and verify current immigration rules with the company or Indonesian authorities.
