Destination Guide

Indonesia offers opportunities for experienced chefs in Jakarta, Bali, Lombok, Batam, and other resort destinations, particularly in luxury hotels, restaurants, villas, and cruise-related hospitality. Bali has an international, tourism-focused lifestyle with strong cultural traditions, temples, ceremonies, beaches, and a large expatriate community. Jakarta is busier and more corporate, while Lombok and smaller islands offer a quieter environment but fewer services. Costs vary considerably; accommodation and transport are usually more expensive in major tourist areas. Foreign employees generally need employer sponsorship, an approved work permit, and the appropriate limited-stay visa, with the employer handling much of the process. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, meals, insurance, flights, tax, and contract terms before relocating. Respectful dress, religious customs, local etiquette, and workplace hierarchy are important.
