Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city and one of Asia’s leading financial and business centres. Employment opportunities are strong in banking, wealth management, technology, compliance, cybersecurity, consulting, logistics, healthcare and regional headquarters functions. The culture is multicultural and generally professional, efficient and English-friendly, with Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences. Lifestyle options range from excellent hawker food and shopping to parks, museums, beaches and a lively arts scene. Public transport is clean and reliable, although housing and childcare can be expensive. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as the Employment Pass, with approval depending on salary, qualifications, experience and prevailing government criteria. Relocating is straightforward with employer support, but applicants should budget carefully for rent, deposits, healthcare, schooling and daily expenses. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain and occasional thunderstorms.
