Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with strong opportunities in banking, technology, healthcare, logistics, professional services and regional headquarters functions. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay and Tamil are also official languages. The culture is multicultural, efficient and generally business-oriented, with excellent public transport, reliable infrastructure and a diverse food scene. Living costs are high, especially rent, but salaries and public services are comparatively strong. Employment usually requires an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass for professional roles; approval depends on salary, qualifications and the employer’s profile. Candidates should secure an offer before relocating and budget for housing, insurance and daily expenses. Singapore offers a safe, convenient lifestyle, tropical weather, extensive shopping and dining, and easy travel to nearby Southeast Asian destinations. New arrivals should research neighborhoods, schools and tax obligations before moving.
