Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city-state and a leading regional hub for banking, technology, logistics, healthcare and professional services. Job opportunities are strong for experienced candidates in financial services, risk, compliance, technology, operations and business resilience, although competition is high. The culture is multicultural, efficient and generally professional, with English widely used at work. Lifestyle options range from modern apartments, restaurants and shopping districts to parks, beaches and excellent public transport. Housing can be expensive, especially in central areas, while healthcare, safety and infrastructure are generally excellent. Foreign professionals normally need an Employment Pass sponsored by an employer; approval depends on salary, qualifications and government criteria. Relocating employees should budget for rent, deposits, insurance, schooling if applicable and moving costs. Singapore's tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain and occasional thunderstorms.
