Job Description

The Duty Pharmacy Manager is responsible for leading the pharmacy team at Tesco’s Doncaster store, ensuring safe, effective and customer-focused pharmaceutical services. Applicants would normally need to be a qualified pharmacist registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council, with suitable experience in community pharmacy and a strong understanding of professional and legal requirements. The role involves dispensing and checking prescriptions, providing healthcare advice, supporting NHS services, managing stock, maintaining compliance and supervising colleagues. As this is a part-time position, availability should match the store’s operating hours.

Founded in 1919, the company sells groceries, clothing, household goods and a range of financial and other customer services. Tesco also operates pharmacies within many of its stores, providing prescription services, health advice and NHS-related support. The business employs a large workforce across the UK and focuses on convenience, value, customer service and responsible retailing. Its pharmacy teams work alongside store colleagues and healthcare professionals to deliver safe, accessible care in local communities. Benefits and working arrangements vary by position, location and contract type.

Destination Guide

The United Kingdom offers opportunities in healthcare, retail, technology, engineering, logistics, finance and hospitality. Pharmacists and other regulated professionals generally need the relevant UK registration and may need to meet qualification, language and immigration requirements. Culture is diverse and multicultural, with strong respect for privacy, punctuality and workplace professionalism. Lifestyle varies from busy cities to quieter towns and rural areas, with extensive public transport, historic sites, parks and coastal destinations. Doncaster has comparatively lower housing costs than London and many southern regions, although rent and commuting expenses still depend on location. Most overseas workers need a visa, commonly employer-sponsored Skilled Worker permission where the role and employer qualify; eligibility, salary thresholds and sponsorship rules can change. Before relocating, check GOV.UK guidance, professional registration requirements, healthcare access, tax, accommodation and school arrangements. The UK has a temperate climate, and budgeting for energy, transport and housing is important.
