The Career Advisor (Manager) will support NUS students and graduates through career counselling, employability programmes, workshops, industry engagement and employer-related activities. The role is expected to provide one-to-one guidance, develop career resources, track outcomes and contribute to the Centre for Future-Ready Graduates’ strategic initiatives. Candidates typically need a recognised degree, relevant experience in career advising, education, human resources, recruitment or student development, and strong knowledge of employment trends. Excellent communication, coaching, presentation, stakeholder-management and organisational skills are important. Experience working with students, employers, career platforms or data-driven programme evaluation would be advantageous. The successful candidate should be proactive, service-oriented, commercially aware and comfortable working with diverse groups in a fast-paced university environment.
The National University of Singapore (NUS) is Singapore’s flagship comprehensive university and one of Asia’s leading institutions of higher learning. Established in 1905, it offers a broad range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across disciplines including business, computing, engineering, medicine, law, science, the arts and social sciences. NUS combines strong teaching with internationally recognised research and maintains partnerships with universities, companies and public-sector organisations worldwide. Its community includes students and staff from many countries, creating a diverse and globally oriented working environment. The university also places emphasis on innovation, entrepreneurship, lifelong learning and graduate employability. The Centre for Future-Ready Graduates supports students and alumni through career education, employer engagement, internships, skills development and career guidance, helping them navigate changing labour-market demands.
Singapore is a compact, safe and highly connected island city with opportunities in education, technology, finance, healthcare, logistics, tourism, research and professional services. English is widely used at work, while the multicultural population reflects Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences. Life is convenient, with efficient public transport, excellent healthcare, abundant food choices and modern amenities, although housing and daily expenses can be high. Most professionals rent apartments or rooms near MRT stations; central areas are convenient but pricier. Foreign professionals generally need employer-sponsored permission such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, with eligibility depending on salary, qualifications and experience. Employers normally handle the application, while dependants may require separate passes. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, banking, insurance and tax registration, and check current Ministry of Manpower requirements. Singapore’s warm, humid climate, green spaces and short travel distances make relocation practical for many international workers.
