The Research Fellow will conduct epidemiological research on ageing, analyse population and health data, contribute to study design, prepare manuscripts and reports, and support grant-related research activities. Candidates are generally expected to hold a PhD in epidemiology, public health, biostatistics, medicine, social science, or a related discipline, with relevant research experience. Strong skills in statistical analysis and software such as R, Stata, or SAS are usually required. The role also calls for academic writing ability, attention to detail, effective collaboration, and the capacity to work independently. Experience with ageing studies, longitudinal datasets, health services research, or large-scale population studies would be advantageous.
The National University of Singapore (NUS) is Singapore’s flagship comprehensive university and one of Asia’s leading research institutions. It offers programmes across disciplines including medicine, public health, science, engineering, business, law, and the humanities. NUS has a strong international research profile and collaborates with universities, hospitals, government agencies, and industry partners worldwide. Its research community addresses major challenges such as population ageing, health, sustainability, technology, and social development. The university provides a multicultural campus environment, modern research facilities, and opportunities for academic collaboration and professional development. Research Fellows typically work within faculties, schools, institutes, or research centres, contributing to funded projects and scholarly publications while gaining experience in advanced research methods.
Singapore is a compact, safe, and highly connected island city-state with opportunities in universities, healthcare, biotechnology, technology, finance, government, and international business. English is widely used at work, while Malay, Mandarin, and Tamil are also official languages. The culture combines Southeast Asian traditions with a strongly international outlook; workplaces are generally professional, diverse, and fast-paced. Public transport is efficient, healthcare is high quality, and food and entertainment options are abundant. Housing is the main expense, especially near central districts and the NUS campus, although public housing and shared apartments can reduce costs. Foreign professionals usually need an Employment Pass, while qualifying researchers may use an appropriate research or work pass sponsored by their institution. Applicants should confirm current visa rules, arrange accommodation early, and budget for a humid climate and relatively high living costs.
