The Temporary Admissions Interviewer will conduct structured interviews with applicants to NUS MSc programmes, assess their academic background, motivation, communication skills and suitability, and provide clear, objective feedback to the admissions team. Candidates are generally expected to hold a relevant university degree, have strong English communication and interpersonal skills, and demonstrate sound judgement, professionalism and attention to detail. Experience in interviewing, admissions, postgraduate education or a related professional field is advantageous. The role requires reliability, confidentiality, cultural awareness and the ability to evaluate applicants consistently against established criteria. Availability during scheduled interview periods and familiarity with online interview tools may also be required.
The National University of Singapore (NUS) is Singapore’s flagship comprehensive university and one of Asia’s leading higher-education institutions. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes across disciplines including business, engineering, computing, medicine, law, science and the humanities. NUS has a strong international outlook, partnerships with universities and organisations worldwide, and a major role in research, innovation and talent development. Its MSc programmes attract applicants from Singapore and overseas who seek advanced professional and academic training. The university operates a large, diverse campus environment and employs academic, administrative, technical and professional staff. As an admissions interviewer, the successful candidate would support NUS’s postgraduate recruitment and selection process by helping assess applicants fairly and consistently.
Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city-state with strong opportunities in education, finance, technology, healthcare, research, logistics and professional services. English is widely used at work, while Malay, Mandarin and Tamil are also official languages. The culture is multicultural, efficient and generally safe, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping and easy access to parks and waterfront areas. Housing can be expensive, particularly near central districts, so many newcomers choose shared accommodation or housing farther from the city centre. Employment passes and other work permits are required for foreign nationals; eligibility depends on the job, salary and qualifications, and the employer usually submits the application. Relocating staff should arrange suitable health insurance, banking, housing and tax guidance. Singapore’s warm, humid climate and year-round tropical weather are important lifestyle considerations.
