Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island with opportunities in education, technology, finance, healthcare, research, logistics, hospitality and professional services. Its multicultural society blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in languages, festivals, food and neighbourhoods. Public transport is efficient, while housing, dining and healthcare are widely accessible, although living costs can be high. The climate is tropical, hot and humid throughout the year, with frequent rain. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, subject to eligibility and salary requirements; dependants may qualify for related passes. New arrivals should budget carefully for rent, deposits, insurance and schooling where relevant. Singapore is regarded as safe and orderly, and its central location makes travel around Southeast Asia convenient.
