Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, well-connected island with opportunities in education, technology, finance, healthcare, logistics, tourism, and professional services. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil are also official languages. The culture is multicultural, efficient, and generally respectful of punctuality and workplace standards. Public transport is excellent, although housing and daily expenses can be high; renting a room is often more affordable than living alone. Singapore offers safe neighbourhoods, diverse food, shopping, parks, beaches, and easy regional travel. Foreign professionals usually require an Employment Pass or S Pass, with eligibility depending on salary, qualifications, experience, and employer sponsorship. New arrivals should arrange suitable housing, understand healthcare and tax obligations, and budget for transport, utilities, insurance, and deposits. NUS may provide onboarding or relocation guidance, but specific support should be confirmed with the hiring team.
