Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island with opportunities in finance, education, technology, healthcare, logistics, tourism and professional services. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay and Tamil are also official languages. The culture is multicultural, orderly and generally fast-paced, with excellent public transport, reliable infrastructure, diverse food and many green spaces. Housing can be expensive, especially in central districts, so newcomers often compare renting a room with sharing an apartment. Employment-pass eligibility depends on salary, qualifications and the employer’s application; other work permits apply to different job categories. Candidates should secure an offer before relocating, arrange health insurance and check entry and pass requirements with Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower. The island is safe and convenient, though costs for rent, childcare and private transport are relatively high.
