Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island with opportunities in education, technology, healthcare, finance, engineering, logistics, tourism and public services. The culture is multicultural and generally efficient, courteous and fast-paced, with English widely used in workplaces. Lifestyle benefits include reliable public transport, excellent healthcare, diverse food, clean public spaces and easy access to parks and regional travel. Housing is expensive, especially near the city centre, so many newcomers consider university accommodation, room rentals or neighbourhoods connected by MRT. Foreign professionals usually require an employment pass, while mid-skilled roles may use an S Pass, subject to salary, qualifications and employer eligibility. Employers generally handle the application. Relocating involves securing a job offer, arranging housing, budgeting for deposits and learning local employment and tax rules. Singapore’s warm, humid climate and high living costs should be considered before moving.
