Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, safe and well-connected island with opportunities in technology, artificial intelligence, finance, healthcare, education, logistics and biotechnology. English is widely used at work, and the culture is multicultural, efficient and generally professional, while food, festivals and neighbourhoods reflect Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences. Public transport is excellent, although accommodation can be expensive, especially near the city centre. The climate is hot, humid and rainy throughout the year. New employees commonly use the MRT and buses, and many rely on employer relocation support when searching for housing and arranging healthcare or banking. Foreign professionals normally need an Employment Pass or another appropriate work pass, with the employer typically submitting the application. Applicants should check current Ministry of Manpower rules, secure an offer before moving and budget carefully for rent, deposits, insurance and daily expenses.
