Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, safe, and highly connected island city with opportunities in education, research, technology, finance, healthcare, media, and creative services. English is widely used at work, while the culture blends Chinese, Malay, Indian, and international influences. Public transport is efficient, healthcare is strong, and everyday life is convenient, although housing and dining in central areas can be expensive. Popular neighbourhoods include Queenstown, Clementi, Bishan, Tampines, and the city centre, with rental choices ranging from shared rooms to private apartments. Foreign professionals generally need an employment pass, while employers usually handle the application; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications, and experience. New arrivals should budget for rent, deposits, transport, insurance, and utilities, and should check current Ministry of Manpower requirements before relocating. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain.
