Company Info

The National University of Singapore (NUS) is Singapore’s flagship comprehensive university and one of Asia’s leading institutions for education and research. It offers programmes across engineering, science, medicine, computing, business, the humanities, and social sciences, with a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration. NUS operates major research centres and maintains partnerships with universities, governments, hospitals, and industry worldwide. Its researchers work on areas including artificial intelligence, sustainability, biomedical science, advanced materials, public policy, and urban solutions. The university provides an international academic environment, modern facilities, research funding opportunities, and access to Singapore’s wider innovation ecosystem. NUS is based mainly in Kent Ridge, with additional campuses and facilities across Singapore. Research Fellows typically join a specific project, laboratory, department, or centre under the supervision of a principal investigator.

Destination Guide

Singapore offers strong opportunities in universities, biomedical research, technology, finance, engineering, healthcare, logistics, and public-sector innovation. Its culture is multicultural, with Chinese, Malay, Indian, and international influences reflected in food, festivals, languages, and daily life. The island is clean, safe, efficient, and highly connected by MRT and buses, although housing and some services can be expensive. Popular areas include Kent Ridge, Queenstown, the city centre, East Coast, and the northern nature reserves. Foreign researchers normally need an appropriate work pass, commonly an Employment Pass or a research-focused pass arranged with the employing institution; eligibility depends on salary and qualifications. Before relocating, arrange housing, health insurance, banking, and tax registration, and check current Ministry of Manpower requirements. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain, so lightweight clothing and adaptable routines are useful.
