Destination Guide

Indonesia offers varied career opportunities across banking, technology, fintech, consumer goods, tourism, logistics, energy, and manufacturing. Jakarta, on Java, is the main financial and corporate center, while Surabaya, Bandung, Bali, Batam, and several cities in Sumatra also provide growing employment markets. Indonesian workplace culture generally values politeness, teamwork, hierarchy, personal relationships, and respect for religious and cultural differences. Lifestyle costs vary widely: Jakarta offers extensive services and networking but has traffic and higher housing costs; Bali provides a relaxed international environment but can be expensive in popular areas. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work permit and stay visa before starting work. Relocating involves arranging housing, healthcare, banking, tax registration, and local transport. Learning basic Bahasa Indonesia, dressing appropriately, and understanding local customs make professional and social integration easier.
