Destination Guide

Indonesia offers varied career opportunities across banking, technology, manufacturing, tourism, logistics, education, energy, and consumer goods. Jakarta, on Java, is the main financial and corporate centre and is the most practical base for a UOB role, although Bali, Batam, Surabaya, and other islands also attract international employers. Indonesian culture values respect, family, community, and hierarchical workplace etiquette; English is common in multinational companies, while Bahasa Indonesia is useful for daily life. Jakarta provides extensive dining, shopping, transport, and professional networks but has traffic and a fast-paced lifestyle. Bali offers a more relaxed setting, while other islands provide beaches, nature, and lower living costs. Foreign employees generally need employer-sponsored work authorization, usually involving a work permit and limited-stay visa. Confirm requirements with UOB and Indonesian immigration before relocating. Housing, healthcare, tax registration, and insurance should be arranged in advance.
