Malaysia offers career opportunities in banking, shared services, technology, manufacturing, tourism, logistics, and professional services. Kuala Lumpur and the surrounding Klang Valley are the main employment centres, while Penang and Johor also attract international employers. Malaysia combines Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous influences, reflected in its food, festivals, languages, and traditions. Living costs are moderate by regional standards, though central Kuala Lumpur housing is more expensive. The country offers modern transport, tropical weather, beaches, rainforests, and island destinations such as Langkawi, Penang, Perhentian, Redang, and Tioman. Foreign professionals generally require employer-sponsored work authorization, commonly an Employment Pass; the employer normally handles the application and eligibility depends on salary, qualifications, and role. Applicants should confirm current immigration rules before relocating, arrange suitable health insurance, and budget for housing, transport, deposits, and settling-in costs.
