Destination Guide

Malaysia offers career opportunities in banking, financial crime compliance, technology, shared services, engineering, healthcare, tourism, and digital businesses. Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya are the main employment hubs, while Penang and Johor also have strong financial, manufacturing, and services sectors. The country combines Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous cultures, with English widely used in professional settings. Urban living is convenient and relatively affordable compared with Singapore, although housing and traffic costs vary by location. Malaysia is not one island, but it includes Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia on Borneo, along with attractive islands such as Langkawi, Penang, and Tioman. Foreign professionals generally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with the company handling much of the application process. Relocating employees should arrange recognised qualifications, medical coverage, accommodation, banking, and tax registration. Malaysia’s tropical climate, diverse food, beaches, and extensive transport links support a comfortable lifestyle.
