Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with strong opportunities in aviation, logistics, hospitality, technology, finance and regional headquarters functions. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay and Tamil are also official languages. The culture is multicultural, efficient and generally respectful, with excellent public transport, safe neighbourhoods, diverse food and easy access to parks, shopping and entertainment. Housing can be expensive, especially in central areas, so many professionals consider locations near MRT lines outside the city centre. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work pass; Employment Pass eligibility depends on salary, qualifications and government assessment, while the S Pass applies to eligible mid-skilled roles subject to quotas. Employers commonly assist with applications and relocation, but candidates should confirm pass requirements before accepting an offer. Singapore’s tropical climate is warm and humid year-round, with frequent rainfall.
