Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, well-connected island city-state with strong opportunities in aviation, logistics, technology, finance, healthcare, hospitality and regional headquarters functions. Its multicultural society blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in languages, festivals and food. The lifestyle is safe and convenient, with efficient public transport, modern healthcare, shopping, coastal areas and abundant hawker cuisine. Housing is the main expense; renting a room or shared apartment is generally more affordable than renting an entire private apartment. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, subject to salary, qualification and regulatory requirements. New arrivals should budget for rent, deposits, transport, insurance and daily costs, and check eligibility before accepting an offer. Singapore’s warm, humid climate and fast-paced professional culture are worth preparing for.
