Destination Guide

Spain’s main island job markets are in the Balearic Islands, especially Mallorca, and the Canary Islands, particularly Tenerife and Gran Canaria. Tourism, hospitality, retail, transport, warehousing, airport services, maritime logistics, and customer support are common sources of employment; customs and freight roles are especially relevant because islands depend heavily on imported goods. Island life offers a relaxed pace, outdoor activities, strong local traditions, and a social culture, although housing can be expensive and seasonal employment is common. Spanish is important for daily life and most local jobs, while English and German are useful in tourism. EU/EEA citizens can work in Spain with standard registration requirements. Non-EU candidates generally need an appropriate work permit or internship authorization, usually arranged before arrival. Relocation planning should include accommodation, transport, health coverage, registration, and the cost of flights and island travel.
