Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong technology opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Cyberjaya, Penang, and Johor, with software roles available in logistics, banking, telecommunications, shared services, and e-commerce. Popular island destinations such as Penang, Langkawi, and parts of Sabah and Sarawak provide a relaxed lifestyle, beaches, diverse food, and rich Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous cultures, although most corporate jobs are on the mainland. Living costs are moderate compared with many international technology hubs; Kuala Lumpur offers the widest transport, housing, healthcare, and entertainment choices. Foreign professionals usually need employer sponsorship for an Employment Pass, with approval and salary requirements subject to Malaysian regulations. Relocating candidates should confirm sponsorship, tax treatment, medical insurance, housing, and schooling before accepting an offer. English is widely used in business, while Malay is the national language.
