Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong opportunities in logistics, shared services, technology, finance, manufacturing, and business process outsourcing, particularly around Kuala Lumpur, Cyberjaya, Penang, and Johor. The country has a multicultural society shaped by Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous traditions, with English widely used in professional settings. Life is generally affordable compared with Singapore or many Western locations, although housing and commuting costs vary by city. Malaysia’s islands, including Langkawi, Penang, and parts of Sabah, provide beaches, nature, and a slower lifestyle. Foreign professionals normally require employer sponsorship for an Employment Pass, and the hiring company typically manages the application. Relocating professionals should arrange a valid passport, employment contract, housing, healthcare coverage, tax registration, and banking access. Kuala Lumpur is the most practical base for international corporate roles, with extensive transport, schools, hospitals, restaurants, and expatriate services.
