Driver Class 2

United Kingdom DHL Approximately £30,000–£38,000 per year, potentially plus overtime, shift premiums and benefits*
Job Description

The Driver Class 2 role involves safely operating a rigid goods vehicle to collect and deliver consignments, completing vehicle checks, securing loads, and following delivery schedules and road-safety procedures. Candidates typically need a valid UK Category C (Class 2) driving licence, Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC), digital tachograph card, and a good driving record. Previous commercial driving or parcel-delivery experience is advantageous. DHL expects dependable, customer-focused drivers who can work independently, communicate professionally, manage delivery paperwork, and maintain high standards of safety and service. Physical fitness, punctuality, flexibility, and willingness to work varied shifts are also important.

Company Info

DHL is a global logistics and supply-chain company operating across express delivery, freight transport, warehousing, e-commerce and contract logistics. Its UK businesses support organisations and consumers by moving parcels, documents, freight and specialist goods nationally and internationally. DHL is part of DHL Group and employs a large, diverse workforce across transport hubs, depots, warehouses, offices and customer sites. The company places strong emphasis on operational reliability, safety, customer service and sustainability, including efforts to reduce emissions through cleaner vehicles and greener facilities. A Driver Class 2 employee would typically work within DHL’s transport network, representing the company directly with customers and helping ensure consignments are delivered accurately and on time.

Destination Guide

The United Kingdom offers driving, logistics, warehouse, transport-planning and fleet-management opportunities, particularly around major cities, ports, airports and distribution centres. Workplace culture is generally punctual, safety-conscious and professional, with clear employment rights and structured training. Lifestyle varies from busy urban living to quieter coastal and rural communities; public transport is strongest in larger cities, while a car is often useful outside them. UK weather is changeable, and living costs are highest in London and southeast England. Applicants normally need a valid right to work, such as British or Irish citizenship, settled or pre-settled status, or an appropriate visa. Commercial driver roles do not usually provide visa sponsorship, so this must be confirmed with DHL before relocating. New residents should arrange accommodation, a National Insurance number, bank account and, where required, a UK driving-licence exchange.
