Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied hospitality opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak, including hotels, resorts, restaurants, spas and tourism businesses. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences; politeness, modest dress, punctuality and respect for religious practices are valued. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living to relaxed island communities, with affordable food, tropical weather and excellent regional travel. Popular island destinations include Langkawi, Penang, Redang, Perhentian and Tioman, although Putrajaya itself is inland. Foreign employees normally need an employment pass or another approved work permit, sponsored and arranged by the employer before starting work. Requirements vary by nationality, salary, qualifications and role. Candidates should confirm visa sponsorship, accommodation, transport, medical coverage, working hours and local employment conditions directly with the hotel. Malaysia's tropical climate, occasional monsoon disruption and public-holiday schedules should also be considered when relocating.
